Villa Trevisan

the history

of the villa

Villa Trevisan is a Venetian villa located in the municipality of Alonte in the province of Vicenza. Formerly owned by the exiled Alvise Dal Verme, it was purchased on February 19, 1465, by the noble Venetian Giustinian family. Later, in the 17th century, the villa became a holiday residence for the “use and convenience” of the Giustinian family.

The main facade of the building faces south, featuring a Gothic-style arched loggia. The noble floor is graced by two small balconies with balusters made of soft stone from the Berici Hills, featuring Tuscan order semi-columns. The coat of arms belonging to the Giustinian family is still present on the left side of the villa. On the right side, there are two barchesse, originally used as stables and barns, which are typical buildings of the period.

the territory

of Alonte

The Berici Hills, and particularly the southern area of Alonte, represent one of the most interesting crus for wines in the entire region. The medium-textured soils are rich in clay and limestone from fossil deposits originating from an ancient sea, with the presence of volcanic material.
This virtuous mix enriches the mineral component and favors the production of wines that are particularly refined due to the limestone and full-bodied due to the basaltic clay component.
