Favorita Cycling Route

Free itinerary between the Guà River and the countryside in the valley floor of the western Berici. A standard bicycle is sufficient (although an MTB is preferable) to venture along secondary roads discovering little-visited corners rich in curiosities. A notable feature is the scenic Villa da Porto known as La Favorita (arch. F. Muttoni, 1715).

Villa Favorita a Lonigo

Villa Favorita

(1)

From the center of Monticello di Fara, take the Strada Provinciale Favorita to reach the hamlet of S. Giustina with the ancient Ca' Quinta, around which Roman-era artifacts were found. Return to the beginning of the picturesque cypress-lined avenue leading to the imposing and scenic Villa Da Porto la Favorita (F. Muttoni 1715). On the public road, the genteel chapel of Madonna del Carmine was erected in 1697, adorned with statues and the stone coat of arms of the Da Porto family.

The Berici Mountains

(2)

Circle the monumental complex from the north side to reach the rear of the villa, where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Meledo-Sarego territory with the Berici mountains in the background. A path descends the hill to the plain, passing in front of the ruined church of S. Gaetano at "Palazzetto". On the road, pass under the embankment that crosses the Guà bridge, immediately taking the left road under the embankment that passes near Contrà Velo and continues, still under the embankment, to the Frigon hamlets.

Rural Landscape

(3)

Via Paradiso leads to the artisan area of Meledo, reaching state road 500. Just half a kilometer north, then leave it by taking Via dell'Agricoltura on the right, which makes a nice loop passing through Case Palù. Back on the state road, cross Meledo and at the second road on the left after the village, enter the countryside again via Via Masetto. The road soon becomes rural, crosses a semi-marshy area (to be traveled when dry) and joins Via Veneziana. Left-right and forward toward Ca' Cantona, where you will travel along the hillside on a beautiful section of the Sentiero dei Monti di Meledo until you meet state road 500 again.

Villa Trissino a Lonigo

Barchessa and Colombara of Villa Trissino

(4)

Turn left toward Sarego and cross almost the entire town. After the square with the town hall on the right, cross the Fiumicello Brendola and the Guà, and at the end of the short descent, after the curve, take the detour for Via S. Antonio, at the end of which you will find the oratory from 1746. Keeping right on the Strada Provinciale Favorita and then right again on Via Palazzetto, you will reach the dovecote of the manor house of the same name that belonged to the Trissino family. From here the loop concludes by briefly connecting to Monticello di Fara.
