Pan Biscòto is a product of ancient tradition in the Lonigo area and throughout the Veneto region, and it is still widely consumed today in the lower Vicenza area.
In poorer households, Pan Biscòto used to replace fresh bread. It is traditionally eaten soaked in milk, soups, or wine, and served with cheeses, cured meats, and even watermelon.
It is ideal for children as it aids in the development of their first teeth; it is also more digestible and provides relief in cases of gastritis and ulcers. Pan Biscòto is still produced today in the hamlet of Madonna in Lonigo by the Tomba Bakery, strictly following the old tradition.
